Together to a better world

A sustainable world, that starts with yourself! That is why we at Camping de Molenhoek do everything we can to make our park as sustainable as possible. Together How do we do that? We would like to tell you more about it.

We’re the future

Let the sun shine!

Solar panels? Check! During the summer season, we use quite a bit of electricity. So why not generate this power ourselves? About 186 solar panels do a great job as soon as the sun starts to shine. These solar panels are not only responsible for heating, but also for cooling our hospitality facilities. In addition, the swimming pool is also heated and when necessary cooled with the power generated by these solar panels.

Lovely warm in the pool

Brr an ice cold pool, we don't like that very much. That's why, in addition to the solar panels in the pool, we use another technology that keeps the water at a lovely, pleasant temperature. We do this by means of heat pumps. These heat pumps use a lot less energy than other ways of heating water. This means that there is more power left over to sustainably heat the building with its catering facilities, for example, and it stays nice and warm.

Our eco-friendly toilet facilities

Even in the toilet buildings you will notice that we are serious about sustainability. In Toilet Building A you will find seven heat panels connected to a solar water heater of no less than 2000 liters. Because the water is already (partly) heated in a completely natural way, the boiler uses less energy while heating the water.

Toilet building B is equipped with a solar boiler with 5 heat panels. In addition, this toilet building, like the swimming pool, also uses a heat pump to heat the building.

Every little bit helps!

We are well on our way to adding heat pumps to the other facilities as well. But, not only heat pumps, solar panels and solar water heaters provide sustainability. Small and non-obvious things can also contribute. For example, all the lights you find on our park are equipped with LED lighting and, where possible, these lights are also equipped with motion sensors. This way we know for sure that lights are not on unnecessarily.

Even when constructing and renovating the playgrounds, we thought about how to reduce the impact on the environment. All playgrounds are FSC labeled. This means that playground equipment is made from sustainable and circular materials. Finally, plastic materials are no longer used when serving food in our snack bar. We use wooden cutlery, biodegradable trays, straws made from sugar cane and napkins made from recycled paper.

Psst, and secretly our guests lend a hand, too! Waste is neatly separated in the appropriate bins and a short shower is no exception. And guests with electric cars are also welcome. You will find four different charging stations for electric cars at our entrance. In this way, together we ensure that generations to come can also enjoy wonderful summers on the Dutch coast.
